A Call for JAILer's Help!

Date: Thursday, January 24, 2002 6:23 PM

Below is an explanation of the problem, and a contact list follows. If you can't email the entire extensive list, please at least write a few of them randomly selected so as the top of the list does not get all the letters and the bottom none.

Let's show a little citizen's muscle here. Judicial appointments have heretofore gone down without a hitch. It's time to change that. Two of the attorneys involved here are JAILers among us. Let's show them a little support. Thank you.

Subject: WE NEED HELP-URGENT

Folks: We really need everyone's help. Two judges who are up for reappointment and those in charge are trying to railroad it through with lies and deceit. These two judges are two of the worst in our area (one is Alexandria area and one is Norfolk).

Complaints against them are being ignored and people who complain are being told that they are the only ones complaining. They are involved in sanctioning one of the attorneys who I wrote about in my article on Military Courts who speaks for justice and the consequences of speaking out had to be borne all alone.

They want to bury this attorney for speaking for the people. Yesterday, I met another attorney who was also challenging the confirmation hearing of one of these two judges. This attorney was being labeled as a "kook" by the judge, the clerk, the deputy and the other attorney (that is the game).

The attorney is a very bright and principled, well spoken, and a good presenter. The reconfirmation committee told this attorney that the public had until March to get in letters opposing the reappointment. This is not true. I knew another person who had been in contact with them and they told that person that he was the only one opposing, that it was a done deal, there was nothing that could be done to stop it, AND that the confirmation was final on January 29 -- a different date.

Do you see the games? Even though many of you are not from this area, we have to have EVERYONE email these members of the Selection Committee to stop these reconfirmations. Justice denied here is Justice denied everywhere!

Let's start working together. Let's let these crooks know that "We the People" are standing up everywhere, and that we have had enough!

Also, if we do not stand for the few attorneys who are speaking for us, then they will either give up or be buried so that they cannot speak any longer. The opposition would love to silence the few of us insiders who can verify what you all have been saying for years. Let's make a difference in our nation! These crooks don't think we can stop them and maybe some of us did not think we could for a long time. The tide is changing.

Please help us by writing something similar to the following and send to the list below. (The email must be non-confrontational, educated, and to the point):

I understand that Judge Sheridan and Judge Poston are up for reappointment. I believe that our country is being ruined by the Justice system and these two Judges have been flagged as two that should not be reappointed. I submit my opposition to their reappointments, and I request that it be noted and acted upon.

I am also concerned about the secretive nature of these reappointments and that different people who have tried to oppose them are being told different things as to deadlines. Further, I am concerned as to whether public opinion matters in the least. I trust my submission will not be ignored.

Thank you.

NOTE: Vote on incumbent VA. Judges is scheduled for 1/29/2002.
